1. Using TrotTrot
These terms apply when you use TrotTrot, operated by TrotTrot. By creating an account or using the site you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use TrotTrot.
You must be 18 or older to create an account.
2. Your account
- Keep your sign-in details secure — you're responsible for activity on your account.
- Give accurate information and keep it up to date.
- One person per account; don't impersonate anyone.
3. Farm and route information
Farm details — including opening hours, ratings and photos — come from public sources such as Google Places and from the community. Farms change their hours, prices and offerings, so always confirm with the farm before you visit, especially for tastings, meals and bookings.
Driving times and distances in the route planner are estimates. They don't account for traffic, road conditions or detours.
4. Drink responsibly
Wine routes involve alcohol. Never drink and drive — plan a designated driver, a tour or transport. You are responsible for your own safety and for following the law, including South Africa's blood-alcohol limits.
5. Your content
You own the routes, notes, reviews and photos you create. By making content public or sharing a photo, you give us permission to display it on TrotTrot and to let others view and share it. You can delete your photos from your profile at any time.
Content you post must:
- be honest and based on your own experience (reviews);
- not be offensive, hateful, defamatory or illegal;
- not include other people's personal information without their permission;
- for photos: be your own, taken at the farm you post them to, and not show other people without their permission;
- not be spam or advertising, or be posted in exchange for payment or freebies without saying so.
We check reviews and photos before they appear and may decline, remove or edit content that breaks these rules.
6. Acceptable use
Don't misuse TrotTrot — for example by trying to access other people's accounts or private routes, interfering with the site, scraping it in bulk, faking check-ins or logging activities you didn't do, or using it for anything unlawful. We may suspend accounts that do and remove points, badges or challenge entries gained unfairly.
7. Liability
TrotTrot is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for losses arising from your use of the site, from information that turns out to be out of date, or from your visits to farms and other venues — your arrangements with them are between you and them. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act that can't be excluded.
8. Closing your account
You can stop using TrotTrot at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailing hello@trottrot.co.za. See our Privacy Policy for what happens to your information.
9. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms; if the changes are significant we'll let you know. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
